Underwater Surveys

Survey design and implementation for Environmental Statements, to inform Habitats Directive appropriate assessments and for monitoring of impacts on the marine environment are a major component of MarineSeen’s work, for government agencies, NGOs (non government organisations) and industry.  

MarineSeen is registered as a Diving Contractor with the Health and Safety Executive.  Diving qualifications include:

HSE Part IV standard BSAC Advanced Diver

Oxygen Administration and Advanced Nitrox Diver

Life Saving and First Aid certificates

VHF Radio Operators License

RYA Advanced Powerboat Certificate (Level 3 with commercial endorsement) 

Francis has extensive diving experience, with the marine ecology of Britain and Ireland a specialty but also knowledge of the Mediterranean and of coral reefs from expeditions to Florida, the Caribbean, Australia (tropical and temperate), New Zealand and Fiji. 

Francis was involved with the UK Marine Nature Conservation Review (MNCR), which took him diving all around the British Isles.  He has also been involved with mapping and monitoring Special Area of Conservation and HPMCZ surveys around the UK in recent years.
